‘Illegal betting’ FW becomes SON partner… but plans to replace it with ‘Stutte Bomber’

Brentford are planning to make a shock move for striker Ivan Toney, 27, should he leave the club. The Hornets are targeting Serge Giroud (27-Stuttgart)토토사이트 as his replacement if Toni, who is currently the subject of interest from Tottenham, leaves for North London.

“Brentford are preparing to make a move for Giroud in January amid fears he will be snapped up by Tottenham or other clubs,” Football Insider reported on Friday, adding, “Giroud will be a priority for many Premier League clubs if he continues his breakout form in the Bundesliga.”

Tottenham lost Harry Kane, 30, to Bayern Munich last summer, and Son Heung-min, 31, is filling the void. Son has scored six goals in eight league games and has shown flashes of goal-scoring ability. However, manager Angie Postecoglou (58, Australia) is worried about January, when Heung-min will be away for the 2023 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup in Qatar.

Without Son, Tottenham could turn to Henrikh Mkhitaryan, 26, up front, but Mkhitaryan has suffered a goal drought since joining Spurs. As such, Spurs are looking for a clear-cut striker to fill Son’s shoes and partner him.

Spurs see Tosun as their best option. He scored 20 goals and provided four assists in 33 Premier League games last season. His ability to compete for aerial balls at the highest level in the league, coupled with his goal-scoring prowess, makes him a coveted target for big Premier League clubs in need of a striker. In addition to Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea have been linked with a move for Tosun.

Currently, Toni is serving an eight-month ban after being caught betting illegally in May and won’t be eligible to play until January of next year. He’s not playing right now, but he’s back on the training field and getting fit. Brentford are keen to keep hold of him, but are prepared for a big club to make an offer they can’t refuse.

According to Football Insider, a number of clubs are monitoring Giroud, including Brentford. “West Ham, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth have been extensively linked with a potential January move for Giroud,” the outlet said, adding that “Brentford are planning their first move. Fulham could make a move for Giroud as a long-term replacement for Aleksandar Mitrovic (29-Alhilal).”

Brentford believe Toni is worth at least £60 million. That fee would be enough to bring in Giroud. Giroud has a buyout clause, which is only worth €20 million ($28.4 million).

Brentford are interested in Giroud, who has scored 13 goals in seven Bundesliga games this season, making him the top scorer in Europe’s top five leagues. Other mid-table Premier League clubs, as well as big clubs like Tottenham and AC Milan, are also reportedly on his radar.
